Screw Conveyors
Breakdowns can be a frustrating and costly experience for any production line.
When it comes to screw conveyors, some spare parts can be sourced in a matter of days. However, other more specialist parts are made-to-order and can take weeks to fabricate and deliver.
Last year we consulted with a valued customers about a spares package for their existing conveyors and elevators and advised purchasing spare worm-on-pipes (WOP) for the client’s plant-critical screw conveyors. The product traveling through these conveyors produces highly corrosive Hydrogen Sulphide gas, so WOP breakages can be a real risk.
A couple of weeks ago, Abdie Solutions received a call to say a WOP had failed, and our client needed help getting their machine repaired & overhauled in order to get the plant back up and running by the end of the week. Within 48 hours, we had boots on the ground for both dayshift and nightshift, with Abdie Engineers advising and assisting the onsite Engineers. Three days later, the 15 metre long screw conveyor was fully stripped, rebuilt, and rotating again.
Abdie Solutions can offer onsite assistance during breakdowns, but crucially, we also work with clients to advise on spares and servicing to prevent a breakdown from becoming a nightmare.
